Thoughts From The Other Side

I really love what I do. I wake up in the morning still excited to come into the office. This is indeed a great job… In part because I get to work with my first born son (smile) but also because I get to spend the day visiting and working with great clients. Helping our clients find comfort, confidence, and clarity about their financial future has been one of the highlights of my professional life.

One of the most interesting aspects of my career has been meeting and making friends with successful clients over 30+ years. This is not just success in the work place but success with family, relationships, personal hobbies, etc.  At the beginning of my career, almost all of my clients were older than me and I found things I admired and wanted to replicate for my family in the years to come. As you might imagine, there were a lot of relationships, memories, and life experiences that brought my “older” clients satisfaction.  With that being said, one of the most predictable and prevalent commonalities was almost EVERY client “lit up” when they spoke about their grandchildren. Time does not permit me to tell you how many emails, texts, and phone calls I have received from clients telling me about their grandchildren. I LOVED (and still love) hearing client stories about their grandchildren but I now fully understand their excitement.

Our oldest grandchild (Hallie Fae) turns 3 this year and our youngest (Harper) turns 1 this spring. Spending time with them truly brightens my day. And the best part is that “Lovey and Bobo” (what the grandkids call us) get to spend time with them and then give them back to their parents right when everyone is cranky and ready for bed!  A client said it best a number of years back… “If I knew grandkids were going to be this much fun, I would have had them first.”

So thank you… thank you for sharing your life and your memories with me and our team. Thank you also for letting me share my family (now at 11) with you. It has been and will continue to be a high honor and privilege to serve our client family.
